Reporting chat bots

Use /report to flag a character that spams the chat. A person reviews every report.

Updated:

If a character is flooding the chat with spam, you can report it. A report does not punish anyone by itself: it sends the case to a moderator, who reads the messages and decides.

How to report

Type /report <character> in the chat. You can add a reason after the name:

/report SpamBot selling gold on a website

The character has to be online at that moment, and it must have written something recently. The reported player is not told about the report.

What the moderator sees

The server attaches the reported character’s last 20 chat messages to your report: normal chat, whispers, party, guild, alliance, gens and /post. The moderator judges those messages, not the number of reports. Ten reports against someone who wrote nothing wrong lead to nothing.

Who can report

  • You need level 50, at least one reset, or a master level.
  • You can have one open report against the same account at a time.
  • You can file up to 5 reports per hour.
  • You cannot report yourself or another character of your own account.

What happens next

If the moderator upholds the report, the account gets a chat ban for a limited time. It applies to every character of that account and covers /post too. The first ban is short, and repeat cases get longer ones. If the report is dismissed, nothing happens to the reported player.
