Custom jewels
What each of the server's own jewels does (Evolution, Excellent, Fortune, Luck, Upgrade +10 to +15, Prestige and Awakening).
Updated:
Beyond MU Online’s classic jewels, this server adds twelve jewels of its own to grow your gear further. They all work the same way: drag the jewel onto the item you want to use it on. If the item doesn’t qualify, the jewel is simply not consumed and you can try it on something else.
The classic jewels of MU Online.
Jewel of Evolution
Turns a piece of gear into the next tier of its own line (for example, one set’s armor into the next set’s), keeping its level, its options and its excellent options. The item doesn’t need to be +15: it works at any level. If the new tier has a lower maximum level, the level is capped to it.
It doesn’t work on gear you’re wearing, on a piece already at the last tier available to your class, or if there’s no room in your inventory for the item’s new size (some tiers are bigger). A Prestige item can’t be evolved with this jewel: those items grow only through their own options instead (see below).
Jewel of Excellent
Adds one more excellent option to an item that is already excellent, up to a maximum of six options. It has no effect on an item that isn’t excellent yet.
Jewel of Fortune
Turns a plain item into an excellent one, with a random number of options between one and six. It has no effect on an item that’s already excellent.
Both the Jewel of Excellent and the Jewel of Fortune also work on rings and pendants, which have their own set of excellent options, and on socket weapons and armor, which keep their own excellent option set too. They don’t work on wings or pets.
Jewel of Luck
Adds the Luck option to a weapon, armour piece or shield that doesn’t have it yet. It doesn’t work on wings, rings or pendants, or on an item that already has Luck.
Jewels of Upgrade +10 to +15
Six jewels, one per level: the Jewel of Upgrade +10 raises an item from +9 to +10, the +11 one from +10 to +11, and so on up to the +15 one, which raises +14 to +15. They always succeed: there is no chance of failure. Each works only on an item exactly one level below its own; on any other level it isn’t consumed. While you drag one, the item lights up only if it’s at the right level.
Jewel of Prestige and Jewel of Awakening
Today there is one Prestige chain, and it’s the Dark Wizard’s: the five pieces of the Venom Mist set (helm, armor, pants, gloves, boots) and the Grand Viper Staff, each at +15, at the top of its own upgrade chain.
- Take one of those pieces at +15 and use the Jewel of Prestige: it turns it into the matching Abyssal piece — a different item, with its own name and look — starting at +0, but already carrying a powerful option of its own.
- Level that Abyssal piece back up to +15.
- The Jewel of Awakening is meant to advance a Prestige piece to the next rung of its chain, the same way the Jewel of Prestige starts the first one. There is no next rung defined yet, so right now it has nothing to advance an Abyssal piece to.
A Prestige item can’t be evolved by the Jewel of Evolution again: it’s already past that chain and grows only through its own options.
Seeing what your bonuses actually give you
The options a Prestige or Awakening piece carries show up in two places:
- On the item’s tooltip (hover over it), as one extra line per option.
- On your character sheet, where the bonus shows in parentheses next to the normal number, for
example
1400 +(150): the game computes 1400 on its own, and your gear is additionally giving you 150 more. Numbers the game already adds up by itself (max health, mana, SD, AG and attack speed) simply move on their own, with no parentheses needed.
Options a Prestige or Awakening piece can carry include, among others: maximum health, defense (flat and as a percentage, against monsters and against players), attack speed, a flat physical damage range, physical and wizardry damage percentages, mana, SD, AG, and double damage chance.
These options follow the item everywhere
The options travel with the item: equip it, move it around, drop it and pick it back up, or store it in your vault: they’re still there. If you trade an item that carries options, the person you’re trading with sees them too, in their own trade window.
Protected items
A Prestige or Awakening item is too valuable to lose by accident: the game won’t let you drop it on the floor, and asks for confirmation before selling it to an NPC. The Jewels of Excellent, Fortune, Luck and Upgrade carry the same protection.
